Reflection

I think summer camp 2.0 was excellent! Here's what I took away from this experience: 1. An overview of web tools to use in the classroom 2. freedom to explore them to the extent I felt comfortable with and had time for 3. a stress free environment in which to do the work (summer, my own home) I still need help with a few of the items 1. Sharing my google doc on my blog 2. embedding shelfari on my website Struggles I will try to fit in a few more responses to people's work, but I did not always find the time to post my thoughts about classmates' assignments. I feel that this experience was valuable, and I got what I wanted out of it. My hope is that the Summer Camp 2.0 instructors will leave their blog up as it is so that I can revert back to tutorials and ideas for instruction as the year progresses.

Fun!!!

Shelfari

This will be a great tool for the classroom! Since all students will have gmail accounts, it will be really convenient. http://www.shelfari.com/o1514846236 I don't understand how to embed it on my website, though. I would like some help with that.

Google Form

I love knowing how to use this - easy and a great tool for the classroom!

piktochart

I really enjoyed creating a piktochart, and I plan to collaborate with my partners, improve this chart, and use it in our period 8 class.

Spicynodes

Spicynodes : Try it: Preview nodes I am losing track of my many passwords, so I decided to do the preview option for spicynodes. I love this site!!! It will work so great for research and our gardening class. I have a meeting with my partners on the 16th, and we will be making some lesson plans for the garden class. I definitely want to show them this site.

Quizlet

literary terms Quizlet is so easy to use. I could easily embed little quizzes and study guides on my website for students to use if they have extra time in class.

My Youtube channel video

This video was created by my husband on Halloween. It's an instant classic.

Ellie Gets Lost by krumm1979ctc on Storybird
I think that Storybird is so fun.  I can definitely see myself using this next spring during my picture book unit.  Besides evaluating hard copy picture books, students can come online.  We can decide what makes a quality picture book, and then students can create their own.

my video

I think that Edmodo had some nice features.  The part I like best is that students can take a vote online about a class topic so that teachers could see where the students stand on a certain topic or issue was neat.

I always feel stressed when we try to fit learning technology into short meetings during the school year.  Hopefully, I can work at my own pace this summer and actually gain some real knowledge.  I want to learn about blogs and prezis.

Unrelated:  I also want to enroll my little guy, Jackson, in some swim lessons.
